Approved 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 School Year Calendars

At the Regular Board meeting last night, the Glynn County Board of Education unanimously voted to approve the proposed school calendars for 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.

In both calendars, the school system will have 178 instructional days for students – 85 days for the first semester and 93 days for the second semester in the 2023-2024 calendar, and 88 days first semester and 90 second semester in the 2024-2025 calendar. These schedules provide more options for teacher workdays and professional development.

The 2023-2024 school year will begin on the second Tuesday – or August 8, 2023 – and the 2024-2025 school year will resume on August 7, 2024, which is the first Wednesday of that month. The 2023-2024 calendar provides short breaks in October, February and March. Dates identified for these reasons include October 6-10, 2023; February 16-19, 2024; and March 4, 2024. Mirroring this calendar, short breaks in 2024-2025 are scheduled for October 11-14, 2024, February 17, 2025, and March 10, 2025. Additionally, this calendar includes  a teacher workday on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024 (General Election Day).

Full-week breaks in November (Thanksgiving holiday) and April (Spring Break) will remain. Our normal Christmas break schedule will also continue unchanged – Dec. 18, 2023 through Jan. 1, 2024, and Dec. 23, 2024 through January 3, 2025.

This now-approved calendar represents the suggestions, revisions, and consensus of the School Year Calendar Committee comprised of parents, teachers, school and district administrators, and community members.  The various perspectives of committee members were shared and discussed to create this calendar.
