7th Grade - Comparing and Contrasting Genres

Learning Target: SWBAT Compare and contrast a fictional portrayal of a particular time, place, or character with a historical account of the same period and analyze the techniques an author uses to incorporate historical information in a fictional text and recognize how history was altered.
Success Criteria: I can compare and contrast historical fiction with a historical account of the same time period, character, or place and notice the techniques used by the author and the alterations to history.
Activity: Using a Gradual Release of Responsibility students will complete the independent practice of Lesson 19 in their Iready Books.


6th Grade - Comparing and Contrasting Texts

Learning Target: SWBAT recognize the difference between facts and opinions, compare and contrast texts by different authors about the same topic or event, and identify how an author's purpose for writing influences the focus of the text and the details presented.
Success Criteria: I can compare and contrast texts by different authors about the same topic and identify how the author's purpose influences the details presented.
