6th Grade - Lesson 13 - Determining Word Meanings: Figurative and Connotative

Learning Target: SWBAT identify different types of figurative language and determine the figurative or connotative meaning of words and phrases in a literary text.
Success Criteria: I can identify figurative language and the meanings and connotation of it.
Activity: Using a Gradual Release of Responsibility students will complete the independent practice of Lesson 13 in their Iready Books.

7th Grade - Lesson 14 - Analyzing the Structure of a Poem

Learning Target: SWBAT recognize and identify forms, patterns, and structures in poetry, analyze how the poet's choice of sound devices, stanzas, and patterns function in a poem and how the choice of form and structure contributes to meaning and theme.
Success Criteria: I can analyze the internal structure of a poem and consider what that structure adds to the meaning.
Activity: Using a Gradual Release of Responsibility students will complete the independent practice of Lesson 14 in their Iready Books.
