Analyzing Key Ideas in a Text
Learning Target: Students will be able to
-analyze how an author develops a key individual, event or idea in informational text through facts, examples, and anecdotes in informational text
-identify the differences between facts, examples, and anecdotes in informational text.

Success Criteria: I can
-determine if an author uses facts, examples, and anecdotes in an informational and explain how it develops a key individual, event, or idea.


8th Grade

Standards: ELAGSE8RI3

Analyzing Comparisons and Analogies

Learning Target: The students will be able to
-analyze how ideas, individuals, and events in informational text are connected and how the interactions between them are related.
-Identify the distinctions and similarities between ideas, individuals, and events and strategies authors use to make those distinctions, such as comparisons and analogies.

Success Criteria:
I can identify the similarities and differences between ideas, individuals, and events and strategies authors use such as comparisons and anologies.



Activity: Students will work with the teacher to complete the assigned lesson that correlates with the book lesson on Iready and take the quiz. Success will be apparent when students have passed the Iready quiz.
