( the assignment from Monday, 11-16 ) By today's 1/2 way point you should have a pretty good feel for which of these three topics are (1) current and (2) impacting you or your community...yes, YOURS. Be prepared to choose that one and begin a lead paragraph.

Try to avoid the story topics that are too broad or distant and don't give you a personal and emotional voice as an journalist.

There is no new product to create today. Continue to work with your explanations, writing, and research from Monday.

This is the story we are building now. After you finish the Lead Practice assignment, you can begin working on the final draft. This is where you bring all the parts together. The opening, development of setting, the climax and the resolution.

In this story, I will be specifically looking for correct comma use, ellipsis use, descriptive language and setting and finally, a well written "problem scene" or climax.

1. You have an assigned partner. Each of you will need to "SHARE" your "Thoughts" final draft with your partner.
2. Read your partner's paper
3. Highlight good things in light blue
4. Highlight things that need changing in light pink
5. Be sure to add "suggestions" about what you are highlighting.
6. When complete, let them know and begin editing your paper.

Pick 2 items from your "thoughts" list. Create a brief story summary that highlights the struggle faced by the main character. Those are #1 and #2.
Think about the story "Examination Day" from Common Lit. Bradbury added an interesting twist to the "struggle" of the story. Consider adding a twist to your story.

This is where you turn in the final draft of your seed story.
Remember, 2 examples of comma use, 2 dashes, 2 ellipses, AND DIALOG.
